Depending on your starting point there are several
options...
 |
Coming from the UK - ferries might
be your best option if you live on the western
side of England, Wales or Scotland. You can travel
either as a foot passenger or bring your personal
vehicle. Stena
Line offers a fast ferry service to several
locations in Ireland. The UK offers a number of
reputable airlines, as well as Ireland's own Aer
Lingus.
If you're in the UK, or need a connection between
an EU location and Ireland, and need an airfare
quote, we recommend ILC
Travel for your airfare needs. You can email
our representative directly at paul@ilctravel.com

 |
If you're traveling from the
Continent (mainland Europe) - ferries are
also an option in combination with air travel, or
from very limited areas in France. Check Brittany
Ferries for timetables and rates. Or you may
simply wish to save time and fly. You can also contact
Paul
at ILC Travel for your airfare needs from within
Europe. |
 |
From the United States and other part of
the world - traveling by air is the best
way to get to Ireland. Aer
Lingus offers some direct flights into Dublin
and Shannon from several locations. Check their
site for destinations, fares and schedules. You
can also research your own fares at some of the
online booking agents. They use the same ticketing
service that travel agents do and offer some excellent
rates, better then going directly to the airline
in most cases. You can get a full list of airlines
that service Ireland on our website, click

Here.
On the east coast of America there are passenger
ships which offer passage to Ireland, but these
can be quite expensive, take a long time to reach
Ireland and are usually part of a larger European
tour. Cunard
is the most popular cruise line for tours that
include Ireland. You can also book passage on
some of the container ships, as they have passenger
cabins. This is slightly cheaper than using a
cruise line but the amenities are fewer and can
sometimes take longer to arrive at your chosen
destination.

Can
I book online?
 |
The most popular option is to ask
a travel agent who can book the airfare from his/her
office. They can search rates on their computers,
complete the transaction and issue tickets right
from the desk. |
 |
Or if you prefer you can search for the best
ticket price online through the various airlines
or through your favorite online company. We have
a list of online booking services, which include
the airlines themselves, on our website. Click
here, or go to the Links section and click
on Getting
Here. You can research rates, compare fares
between airline sites and with travel agents.
If you decide to book online you can complete
your transaction quickly and easily. Tickets are
posted to you immediately, or in some cases, an
e-ticket will be issued. Just present the confirmation
code sent to you at the check in desk and your
tickets are printed for you then and there.

 |
There are also a number of "Consolidators"
available. These are travel agents that book passage
to Ireland, and other countries, on discounted tickets.
Savings can be substantial, but there are stipulations,
such as no air-mile claims and weekday travel, that
must be discussed before booking. But be sure to
ask your agent, and compare these rates with the
online booking agents to find the best fares. Online
booking services can also offer consolidated fares.
Research is the key! Click
