Aghadoe
Church & Round Tower, Aghadoe, Co Kerry
St Finian the Leper founded his monastery here in the
7th century. In reference materials that are available
today, the site was well active in 992, and the stone
church was mentioned in later writing of 1044.
Gap
of Dunloe, Ring of Kerry, Co Kerry
Visitors to the Gap of Dunloe will be surrounded in natural
beauty from saffire blue lakes, the purple hue of the
Purple Mountains, yellow lillies in the lakes, lush green
grass, yellow gorse and dozens of fluffy white sheep that
roam freely around the hills.
Inch
Strand, the Dingle Peninsula, Co Kerry
Golden beaches stretch over a mile along a strand littered
with shells. Views of Glenbeigh on the north coast of
the Ring of Kerry can be seen from here.
Muckross
House, Muckross, Co Kerry
Muckross House was built in 1843 in true Elizabethan style.
Overlooking one of the Killarney Lakes, called Muckross
Lake, this house has been restored to its original splendor.
Most rooms in the house are open to tourists.
Parkavonear
Castle, Aghadoe, Co Kerry
No much is known of Parkavonear Castle except that it
was probably built in the 13th century. Locals refer to
this castle as "The Bishops Chair" and
"The Pulpit", though for unknown reasons.
Ross
Castle, Killarney, Co Kerry
This is a fine example of a 16th century fortified tower
which is surrounded by bawn walls and round turrets, some
of which are still somewhat intact. The main tower was
built by one of the O'Donoghue Ross choeftain and was
held by Lord Muskerry and the Royalists in the Cromwellian
Wars.
Torc
Waterfall, Muckross, Co Kerry
Torc Waterfall is a dramatic falls that originates from
the top of Torc Mountain from the Owengarriff River on
the road up to Ladies' View. There's a lovely wooded path
through Friars' Glen to the top of the falls.
