Castle Leslie is one of Ireland's hidden gems. This 17th century
castle is set in the quiet countryside on an estate that boasts
three private lakes, 1000 acres of rolling parkland, and mature
woodlands of ash, yew, sycamore and oak, some of which date
back to Celtic times. Rooms have recently been restored at great
cost to the estate. All are en-suite, decorated with luxurious
period furnishings and offer all modern amenities without sacrificing
the estates special air. The castle runs the Gourmet Circle
and hosts theme weekends which are quite popular. The Cookery
School opened in July 2006 and is located in the original restored
Victorian kitchens in the castle. Executive chef Noel McMeel
oversees the school while also being one of Ireland's foremost
celebrity chefs. Guests may also take advantage of the castle's
Victorian Spa, which is Ireland's first organic spa, offering
seven treatment rooms, two Victorian steam boxes, relaxation
area and hot tubs. And, imagine over a thousand acres of rolling
hills, parkland and lakes to explore on horseback. The Castle
Leslie Equestrian Centre offers day trips around the estate,
which includes 300 cross-country jumps of all heights, 21 miles
of bridleways for trail riding, a mile-long all-weather gallop,
56 stables and virtual horses for beginners.
