The original Ballygally Castle dates back to 1625 and has a
long history. Today it's part of a modern hotel, which has recently
been completely refurbished and awarded 4 stars by the Northern
Ireland Tourist Board. The castle is the only 17th century castle
in Northern Ireland that is still used as a residence. This
is a full service hotel with completely modernized rooms and
conference facilities. Rooms have full service amenties that
include coffee/tea making facilities, trouser press, hair dryer,
TV and phone. There's a restaurant and bar on site and leisure
facilties. Private guest parking available, and the hotel is
beside the beach on Ballygally Bay. Golf is available at the
Royal Portrush Golf Course. Guests of Ballygally will get earlier
tee times than walk-in golfers.
For those inclined, the "ghost room" in the original
tower that is reputed to have a friendly ghost!
