REVIEW
The Clarence Hotel is situated on the River
Liffey on the west end of Dublin's city center. The
hotel was originally built in 1852 but was purchased
after years of neglect and restored into one of Dublin's
boutique hotels. Many of the hotel's original features
have been retained and revived and have been balanced
with modern day amenities. All rooms are en suite
now with many offering stunning views of the city
and river, especially the penthouse. Furnishings are
in a contemporary style with smooth sleek lines. All
rooms include 24-hour room service, 24-hour laundry
and dry cleaning, valet parking, valet service, business
services, foreign exchange, theatre and concert tickets
via concierge, babysitting service on request, complimentary
daily newspaper, private dining facilities, beauty
treatment room, secretarial facilities, video library,
disabled access. 2 Dual line telephones with direct
dial, voicemail, modem point, individual climate control,
desk, in-room safe, minibar, satellite television,
combined TV/VCR, Egyptian cotton bed linen, bathrobe,
slippers and luxury amenities, hairdryer. A fax machine,
compact disc player and mobile phone are available
upon request.
Also on site is the Octagon Bar, The Study and Tea
Room. The Octagon Bar has become the "in"
place for upwardly mobile Dubliners. The Study is
a room in the hotel where many of the original features
remain. This is an informal lounge. And the Tea Room
is a wonderful place for lunch. All this luxury in
one place...and yes this hotel is owned by Bono and
The Edge!!
