Cloghan Castle was originally built as an outpost fortification
in the 12th century. The castle was last inhabited by Hugh deBurgo
in the 15th century before falling into ruin. It wasn't until
1973 when the Burke family decided to buy the ruins and restore
it to its former glory. In 1996 the castle was extended and
reopened as a specialty accommodation offering not only a unique
self catering opportunity but also a special venue for corporate
and intimate affairs. There is a landing pad for a helicopter,
facilities for outside entertaining, private grounds for exploring,
and more. Please note: young children not allowed.
